For the Non-Golfer The Scotland Castle Trail abuts the Whisky Trail. Musts are the bleak ruins of Slains Castle at Cruden Bay (which inspired Bram Stoker to pen Dracula), and Cawdor Castle (of Shakespeare's Macbeth) at Nairn.
